The concluding navigation expedition of the year 2025 took place on October 20-31 on R/V Titov

The concluding navigation expedition of the year 2025 took place on October 20-31 on R/V Titov within the State Assignment № 0279 2021 0004 “Investigation of advective and turbulent water exchange...” (led by I.A. Aslamov).

During the expedition, CTD probing and fluorometric studies of the water column were carried out at 48 stations of longitudinal and transverse sections. Alog the direction of RV, there was an ongoing recording of temperature, electrical conductivity, pH, ORP, and turbidity in the near-surface water layer, collecting of meteorological data. Additionally, the examination of the echo sounder signal is conducted to investigate fish aggregations, analyze sound scattering layers, and monitor gaseous discharges. Water samples were collected at the Elokhin-Davsha section for microbiological studies. Experiments with autonomous drifting buoys were carried out.

In addition to hydrophysical studies, several initiatives were undertaken to sustain and upgrade online environmental monitoring stations:

  • Autonomous recorders equipped with thermocouples, designed to measure the vertical temperature distribution, were retrieved from depths of 12 and 30 meters on the slope near the neutrino telescope, located along the 106 km stretch of the Circum-Baikal Railway (CBR). After data reading and replacing batteries, the recorders were reinstalled until March 2026
  • At the atmospheric monitoring station located in the settlement of Tanhoi, gas analyzers have been installed to measure the following oxides: CO, CO2, SO2, O3, NO, NO2
  • At the hydrometeorological station in the settlement of Tanhoi, the sensor for measuring the water level of Lake Baikal was repaired
  • Data has been read from a remote hydrometeorological station located at Cape Elohin
  • The multiparameter water quality probe Rinko-AAQ177 was replaced at the station in the settlement of Listvyanka
