On February 9, 2024, the Head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Russia in Irkutsk region, Major-General of Internal Service Vyacheslav Sergeyevich Fedoseenko, visited the Centre for Interactive Monitoring of the Baikal Natural Territory at LIN SB RAS.
Vyacheslav Sergeyevich was presented with the Center`s capabilities for on-line monitoring of the level of Lake Baikal and rivers in its basin, parameters of atmospheric air pollution, as well as hydrophysical, hydrochemical, and bio-optical indicators of natural water quality. The successful cooperaction between the Ministry of Emergency Situations and LIN SB RAS in monitoring the ice crossing to Olkhon Island was analyzed and the data on the ice cover state was transferred to the MES panel. Equipping ice crossings with the ice complexes developed at LIN SB RAS will enable centralized live data on ice thickness at the crossings to be received, thus increasing the safety of crossings use.
Vyacheslav Sergeyevich noted a good prospect of using LIN SB RAS developments within the “Safe City” hardware and software complex aimed at ensuring environmental safety, safety of the population, municipal infrastructure, and transport, as well as coordinating the work and interaction of various services and departments.
