Forty schoolchildren and teachers from the Baikal regions took part in the seminar on preparing projects for the Russian Open Youth Water Contest in Irkutsk as well as remote participants from 20 subjects of the Russian Federation and Mongolia

Russian Open Youth Water Contest
since 2003

From October 31 to November 1, 2022 Consulting Institute in cooperation with Limnological Institute of SB RAS held in Irkutsk the interregional two-day educational and practical seminar "Learning to carry out environmental research projects for participation in the Russian Open Youth Water Contest".

Forty participants – teachers and schoolchildren from the Irkutsk region, Buryatia and Zabaykalsky krai, representatives of scientific institutions and non-profit organizations attended the competition. Educational institutions of Angarsk, 20 regions of Russia, a school of Mongolia, the Department of Water Resources of the Kemerovo region of the Verkhne-Obskoye basin water management connected remotely; the staff of Research Institute of Ecology and Environmental Technologies of Uzbekistan applied for the seminar materials. Consulting Institute funded the seminar.

Head of the Russian Open Youth Water Contest, Director of Consulting Institute Davydova N.G., Director of Limnological Institute SB RAS Fedotov A.P. and a representative of the Ministry of Education of Irkutsk Region Bichevina O.V. opened the seminar.

Seminar participants received information and materials on the Russian Open Youth Water Contest and other projects of Consulting Institute including the All-Russian Flashmob “Blue Ribbon” on the Water Day and in the Youth Water Community. The finalists of the Water Contest made presentations of their projects. The staff of Limnological Institute held lectures and practical sessions for the seminar participants. Director of Consulting Institute introduced participants to new trends in global education and formats for activities to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

Information video clips of the TVEL Fuel Company and Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Plant were presented to the seminar participants to familiarize them with the main work directions of the official sponsor of the Water Contest.

Head of the Water Contest and a member of the Nomination Committee V.L. Razumovsky conducted a master-class on preparing projects for participation in the contest, and schoolchildren discussed their project ideas on water protection and restoration with the organizer of the Water Contest and received advice from scientists.

The quiz about water attracted interest and revitalized the schoolchildren and adults. All participants were certificated after summarizing the seminar results.
