Staff of Limnological Institute participated in the expert project session of the Second Satellite Event of Young Scientists Congress on the Current Issues of the Arctic

Staff of Limnological Institute participated in the expert project session of the Second Satellite Event of Young Scientists Congress on the Current Issues of the Arctic that was conducted in Salekhard (the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) within the national project “Science and universities” and serves the purpose of “Decades of Science and Technology” declared by the President Vladimir Putin on April 2022.

The invited experts worked in four project groups, each of which visited regional infrastructure facilities. The second project group worked on the development of a federal program to restore whitefish population with an active regional participation. Despite the closed seasons for fishing, the region continues to fix reducing in the number of muksun, inconnus, and broad whitefish – the number of whitefish was reduced by 7 times compared to 2006 in Yamal reservoirs. After the three working days, the project groups drafted proposals for solving the region tasks and presented them at the meeting with the governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug D.A. Artyukhov. The results of the joint work of representatives of regional authorities and scientific community are planned to be considered at the Young Scientists Congress, which will be held on December 1-3, 2022 on the federal territory "Sirius" in Sochi.

The satellite events of the Young Scientists Congress are organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Coordinating Council for Youth in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education. The events operator is the Roscongress Foundation.
