SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of materials to be used in production of sorbents, including chromatographic sorbents, and as matrix for heterogeneous catalysts. To this end, sedimentary rock diatomite (infusorial or diatomic earth) is used, made up, mainly, of silica shucks of fossil diatomic seaweed. Layer of high-porosity silicon dioxide is applied on diatomite silica shucks by deposition and thermal decomposition of oligosilicates and organic polymer.
EFFECT: well-developed specific surface, lower costs, no effects on environments.
