SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of materials to be used as sorbents, including, chromatographic ones, and as matrices for heterogeneous catalysts. To produce silica matrix, diatomic algae biomass glumes cleaned of organic component are used to be subjected to alkaline etching of 1-2% ethanol solution of KOH, and/or layer of high-porosity silicon dioxide is applied on them by impregnating diatomic algae biomass glumes with ethanol solution of the mix of oligosilicates and organic polymer, drying and calcinating it in air.
EFFECT: material with developed specific surface and carcass of initial glumes, reduced costs, no harmful effects on environments.
